"Good to know. Will I need to invite you in every time then?" It was good to know even if she didn't, seeing as there were other vampires around. She wasn't particularly afraid of them, but felt that anyone who couldn't enter her room uninvited was a good thing.
Spike shook his head. "Nope, once takes care of it. Now I'll always be able to come in." Though there were also spells that revoked the invitation. He didn't think it wise to mention them seeing as he wanted to be able to come into his inmate's room without her permission if necessary. So far she hadn't been anything but cooperative, but he wasn't about to risk it.
He sat down on the bed, looking at her thoughtfully. "I've got a friend back home who's green, you know. Nice bloke. Good singing voice."
She nodded. Currently she had no reason to not want him in her room, but in a way she regretted not being able to disinvite him, in case the need should arise.
"Interesting. Is he part elf, or was his greenness a fluke?" It was a fluke in Elphaba's case, of course, but elves were green as well. Part of her wondered if singing voices just went with greenness, as she had a good singing voice as well. "So have you read my file yet?"
"No, he's Pylean. Everyone of his species is that color. Red eyes and horns, too, and his heart's in his arse." Good old Lorne. Spike spares a moment to wonder what he's up to back home, then looks back at Elphaba. "Anyway, I skimmed it, but I thought I'd just talk to you first. I'm not really fond of paperwork and files. I'll get around to it soon enough."
"That you're the antagonist in a rather popular children's series that may or may not be accurate, and that you're very interested in finding out what other people know or think they know about you." Spike raised an eyebrow meaningfully. "How about instead of digging so hard, you tell me what you want me to know about you?"
"Because I'm not sure what I want you to know yet." She paused, considering. "I want you to know that the wizard was more than just a fraud. He also led Oz down a path that encouraged cannibalism, and there were countless murders at the hands of the Gale Forces. I only ever did what had to be done. I did kill Madame Morrible, but I don't regret it, or anything else I may have done."
"Well...I did try to kill Dorothy, but I was simply trying to kill her before she killed me. And I was going to have Chistery drown her dog. That's about all I can think of."
"All right. Let's talk about me now. I'm a vampire, like I mentioned. That means I drink blood to survive. I've killed hundreds of thousands of people, probably, and I enjoyed it."
Spike smiled briefly. "Yeah, sometimes I'm not sure what they were thinking either. But that was then. I met a girl, you see, who changed all that. Made me want to be a better man." He looked at Elphaba seriously. "The reason I'm a warden and not an inmate is that I've already been through my redemption. I've been through hell, literally, and I've given my life to save the world, and I'd do it again." Not that many people get more than one life to give. Spike was lucky. Sort of. "But I thought you should know who you're dealing with."
She gave an amused smirk at the comment about the girl. "How romantic. I've done my own good deeds, however. I gave my life to protect the Grimmerie from the Wizard's hands, and he would have abused its power, and I made him my enemy in the first place because I opposed his policies of degrading the Animals and driving them back into the wild."
