[Spike is full-sized again and very glad to be able abuse his favorite substances without needing an ID he didn't have. And be big enough that half a glass doesn't make him tipsy. Still, the port did teach him some things about his inmate, and it's time to get more active in his wardening.]

Elphaba didn't bother replying. She knew this was coming, and she figured she might as well not waste time. Once she saw the message, she immediately went to Spike's room and knocked on the door.

Spike opened the door and gave her a smile. "Elphaba. Come on in." He stepped back, leaving the door open. His room was fairly boring. There was a bed and some other basic furniture, plus a television and a few medieval weapons. Not many decorations, and not much mess. But that was less because he wanted to be neat than because he just didn't have a lot of stuff to clutter.

Elphaba stepped inside. "I suppose I know what this is about."

"Oh?" Spike raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms. "And what's that, then?"

"My maternal instincts, or lack thereof."

Spike shook his head. "I don't care about that. That's just what showed me the problem. No, it's about responsibility and caring what happens to people. So we're going to have you work on that."

"And how do you plan to do that?"

"Well, first I'll be getting you a job. And second, I'll be giving you some homework."

"A job?" She considered this. That she could handle. "I have some experience in the medical field." The homework, however, made her more leery. "What sort of homework?

"I've been told there are openings in the kitchens and the garden. I can ask about the infirmary." Spike didn't really care where Elphaba worked. He figured it'd give her the same amount of responsibility. And maybe some socializing too. Or something.

"At least once a week, you've got to talk to someone you don't know, or don't know very well. And I mean have a real conversation, just saying hello doesn't count."

"I'd prefer the infirmary, but if there aren't any openings there, I suppose I could take the gardens, but I can't cook at all and I'd rather not work with something that needs to be watered if I can avoid it."

"...fine." If she'd known this was going to happen, she'd have waited to speak with Mozenrath until this week.

"Sounds fair," Spike said. "And to make sure you're doing it, you'll tell me who you talked to and three things about them that you found interesting."

"All right." She'd probably only talk for long enough to get her three things and their name, though part of her wondered if that would be all Spike expected, anyway. After all, just speaking with Mozeranth as a favor to Snape had been enough to surprise her.

"Great." Spike smirked at her. "You know, you might find once you get to know people that you actually like them."

The kitchen is always looking for help. M. Maguire and Iroh. I can't remember the other supervisor.

I'd be glad for more hands in the garden.

Only problem is she can't be somewhere she might get wet. But I'll talk to her and see if either of those'd work.
