Normally it's annoying as hell giving all the new people the tedious "Welcome to the Barge, try not to break anything" speech, but I didn't mind as much this time around. [He's still enjoying having Buffy around. Oh, and Andrew's here too. Which is... better than some people who could have shown up.]

The Wicked Witch Of The West? [Pause] You weren't joking, were you?

Her name's Elphaba. But yeah, I wasn't. Still, things are pretty bloody different than they were in the Judy Garland film. She gets upset about people not being politically correct and that sort of thing.

...You're sure she wants to meet me? Have you met me?

[Deadpan.] I'm sure if I think hard enough, your name'll come back to me.

Anyway, I'm sure I want her to meet you. She's not very good at talking to people, and, well, that's something you're very good at. I think it'd be good for her.

[She laughs a little.]

Aww, Spike. Okay, okay. Just.. I don't know how seriously I'm gonna be able to--

Does she do the laugh?

[A long suffering sigh.]

No, she rarely so much as cracks a smile. She is green, though. I'm going to regret this, won't I?

Yes. Genvieve Vernet. She's travelled through a place called 'Europe' as well as 'India'. She once fought off a speckled snake with a wooden cane, and she was constantly around horses and dogs as a child.

If she is a she, I had my suspicions from time to time, though it's not my concern either way.

And of course, I'll meet whoever you'd like me to meet.

Huh, haven't met her. Did you like talking to her? Or him?

Great. Mind if we come down to your cabin in maybe fifteen minutes?

[By which time, hopefully Buffy will have stopped laughing.]

It was interesting. I think my description of how I created the flying monkeys disturbed her.

[Spike heads over to Buffy's room, picks her up, then shows her the way to Elphaba's room. He knocks, then looks over at Buffy.]

Ready to not laugh?

[Buffy stood next to Spike, a constant, firm smirk on her face. Her arms were crossed and she was trying so hard to prepare herself for meeting the Wicked Witch. Wearing a sensible outfit, Buffy took a deep breath and calmed herself.]

As ready as I'll ever be.

[Elphaba opened the door with a neutral expression.] Hello. Come in.

[And with that she retreated into her room, which looked much like a witch's room should, filled with ancient books, a red crystal ball, a telescope, a skeleton wing of something that had wings the size of a flying monkeys, and various other paraphernalia that seemed to generate a creepy wicked witch vibe. Chistery was in the room as well, and he fluttered over to the two, looking at the two curiously.]

[Spike nods, giving Buffy a small smile, then steps in.]

Elphaba, this is Buffy. She's the one who helped me become good.

[Buffy walked in and kept that polite firm little smile on her lips, her eyes bulging ever so slightly at Elphaba's cabin. Yep. Exactly how she would have pictured it. Exactly. Except..

Flying monkey. A flying monkey. A real life flying monkey. Buffy made a noise in her throat and stared at it, unable to fully pay attention to what was being said.]

Hi, Elphaba, and yeah, uhhuh, Spike's.. good... [She looked at Elphaba] Is it.. friendly? [Part of her Slayer instinct said slay and/or defend, but mostly she was just hoping it was nice.]

[It wasn't saying much, but Chistery was generally friendly. He really only captured Dorothy and nearly drowned her dog because Elphaba had ordered it.]

[Is surprised, but gets it together quickly.] Nice trick. Does that make you what, some kind of stage magician?
